Bariloche to Host 2026 MXGP Motocross World Championship Opener

Bariloche will host the inaugural round of the 2026 MXGP Motocross World Championship, taking place on March 7th and 8th. The event will bring together 80 of the world's best riders in the MXGP (elite) and MX2 (under-23) categories to compete on the new Bariloche MX Race Track. This establishes Bariloche as a central hub for international motocross, hosting the opening of a world-class circuit designed by European specialists. The Bariloche MX Race Track is a challenging 1,800-meter circuit with 21 corners, specifically designed for this competition. The Motocross World Championship serves as an economic engine for Bariloche and the region, with expectations of high hotel occupancy, increased activity in gastronomy and local commerce, and a significant boost to sports and adventure tourism in Patagonia. Regarding this, Diego Piquín, Executive Director of the Rio Negro Tourism Agency, stated: “The Motocross World Championship puts us in a unique global showcase. It is a historic opportunity to showcase the entire Rio Negro province to millions of people worldwide, connecting sport, nature, and quality tourism.” The event will be broadcast in over 130 countries to a potential audience of more than 600 million viewers, granting it exceptional significance for Bariloche, Rio Negro, and Argentina in the context of international sports tourism. The competition will offer a special attraction for the public: for the first time in the country, the Paddock Show will be held, an exclusive experience designed to bring fans closer to the championship's top figures. The Paddock Show will take place on Saturday afternoon, following the conclusion of the qualifying races.
